In an era when instagram was just about to explode as an integral marketing tool, I was presented with the fun challenge of helping to concept, design and execute on Bloomingdale’s year-long, calendar themed, social media campaign.
This project’s unique challenge was to take the available photographs and generic footage of models, and create something bold that definitely wouldn’t seem like a static slide show.
I approached the motion design by considering the limitation of hard edges on our footage, and that we could perhaps use them to our advantage by making things pop in the edit and animation. Quick cuts, masks, windows and sliding bars became the devices to elevate what would have traditionally been a print / editorial project, and breathe new life to the upcoming fashion releases.
